Regular Opportunities For Movement

Establishing a regular opportunity for employees to engage in 1-5 minutes of science-backed body maintenance on a daily or weekly basis has been shown to reduce pain levels, improve productivity, and boost overall mental and physical resiliency.

Below you'll find a few best practices for incorporating movement into your workgroup's day-to-day. These recommendations are based on the typical structure of workgroups that perform outdoor, craft, maintenance, or warehouse work. That being said, there is always an opportunity to identify other options for your workgroup's unique structure.

Start of Shift "Warm-up" (~5 Minutes)

      • Roll: Start a pre-shift meeting with rolling as a group if possible. Team members can roll out whatever areas feel tight while announcements or other items are discussed.

      • Daily 5: Perform a Daily 5 routine as a group. The Daily 5 is a full-body reset in 5 minutes or less and is ideal for preparing the body for the day ahead.

            • Follow along to a Daily 5 video from the Vimocity platform if possible. If you have a display screen such as a TV or projector readily available, play the Daily 5 video on that. Smaller screens, such as tablets or mobile devices can also be used. Click to access the Daily 5 collection or open the Vimocity app. You will need to be logged in to your Vimocity account to access.

            • If viewing a Daily 5 video is not possible, use a Daily 5 poster to guide the moves. Any Daily 5 poster can be downloaded for printing by clicking on the Daily 5 video from the Vimocity web app. Screen Shot 2024-01-26 at 3.26.09 PM.png
💡 Tip: Short On Time? Use the Vimocity search function on the mobile app or web portal to find 1 or 2 targeted moves to play for the group. Mix it up by asking the group what area of the body they want to focus on.

Pre-Job Briefings: (1-2 Minutes)

      • 1-2 Targeted Moves: Before performing physical job tasks, encourage team members to prepare their bodies for the job task at hand. Addressing tight areas with targeted moves ensures they'll have the necessary mobility to perform the task with proper body positioning. Use the Vimocity app for guidance as needed. 🏛️ Content (Column) (1).png

Interaction with Preventative Knowledge

Empowering your team with a regular cadence of knowledge that helps them solve their unique areas of discomfort and prepares them to approach every job task safely and efficiently is central to sustaining a strong safety performance.

Below you'll find a few best practices for incorporating risk-reducing knowledge into your group's workday:

Monthly Meetings (2-3 Minutes)

Each month Vimocity works with your organization to curate featured educational videos that are relevant to your organization's risks, priorities, and workgroups. You can access these videos on the home page of the Vimocity web portal or mobile app.

Generally, playing the video in the first spot of the featured section is recommended. However, if there is another video (featured or not) that is more relevant to the particular workgroup, please select that video to play.

Finding a time that you can consistently cover the monthly topic with your workgroup is important for keeping safety top of mind for team members. Here are a few tips on how to integrate knowledge into a meeting:

      • Safety Meetings: Play at the beginning, embed on the agenda with a link to portal.vimocity.com
      • Daily Huddles/ Pre-shift: Set a calendar reminder to play the video on the first workday of each month.
💡 Tip: Don't Have Access to a Screen? Use the talking points attached to the video to cover the topic. To download the talking points, click on the video of choice from the web portal and navigate to RESOURCES.
